Budaiya Pre-School Useful Information For Parents
We would like to welcome you and your family to the Budaiya Pre-School. It is our continuous aim to provide a stimulating, caring environment for your child to grow socially, emotionally and intellectually.
Here is some useful information to enable you to work closely with the school and teacher to support your child.
Newsletters:
A monthly class newsletter will be sent out by the class teacher by email and posted on the classroom door to let you know the activities and themes being covered and keep you informed of special events such as Mother’s day, Family fun day etc. A portfolio of your child’s work and photographs of activities will be kept throughout the year and a report will be given at the end of the year. You are welcome to discuss any aspect of your child’s progress with the class teacher by calling and making an appointment.
Timings: Teachers are ready to receive children from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Please let us know if you are unable to collect your child on time. When children are new to pre-school or settling in after a break, we would ask you to call us an hour after dropping them off and plan to pick them up early for the first few sessions, to help them adjust.
Snacks:
As we encourage healthy eating habits, please send a healthy snack such as a sandwich, plain biscuits, or other healthy snack, a piece of fruit and a drink and water bottle with spout. Lunch boxes, bottles and clothes should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Unhealthy food such as chocolate, sweets, chewing gum, nuts or fizzy drinks will be sent home.
Allergies:
If your child has a food allergy or food preferences such as vegan, vegetarian, please let us know on their registration form and also write this on their lunch box.
Reading folders:
A reading folder will be provided for the school library books, finished work and school letters. Please bring this in whenever your child attends school and check it when they go home.
Clothing:
As we encourage creative activities such as painting, gluing etc, we would like children to wear their Budaiya Pre-School uniform every day. We also encourage the children to be as independent as possible; therefore please do not send your child dressed in clothes that are difficult to manage such as belts and clothes with many buttons. For safety, children should wear sandals or shoes and not flip flops or high heels.
Nappies:
If your child wears nappies please send a pack of nappies and wet wipes labelled with your child’s name and we will let you know when they are finished.
Personal items:
We discourage the children from bringing in toys, jewellery or money from home as they may get lost, damaged or become a choking hazard.
Sickness:
If your child is sick and unable to attend school please let us know. Please do not send your child to school if he/she has a fever, diarrhoea, a rash or is on medication that may affect their behaviour. Should your child become sick at school we will contact you immediately.
Holidays:
If you will be away during school term time, please inform the class teacher and the office. Fees must be paid before you leave or your child may lose their place.
Discipline:
It is our policy to correct a child’s behaviour using positive language naming the action as inappropriate and not the child as ‘naughty’. Should an argument involve two children we would inform the parents of both children and record the incident in our files. No adult will administer physical punishment to any child.

If we feel it necessary that a child see a doctor we will inform the parent and either wait for the parent to collect the child or meet at the chosen hospital. All accidents are recorded. Parents must inform us of any change in contact details.
We encourage parents to be actively involved in their child’s education and welcome any parent who would like to volunteer in activities such as: telling a story, helping in cooking sessions or bringing their talent such as music, craft etc. or helping on a school trip.
